The perishable aspect and the fragility of their products require careful management and an impeccable control of their inventory and transportation. It allows them to maintain and be known for their high quality standards, thus, remaining as one of the largest importers of cut flowers in Canada.

Problematic

In order to improve upon their winning philosophy based on good listening skills, Fleurigros had to invest in an efficient management system that can perform, in order to offer more services while minimizing their expenses.

That is when they chose Neova.
Their previous management system was failing to meet their organizational needs. With their catalog containing more than 6000 products, they had access to at most six months of historical data, which made it impossible for them to obtain accurate statistical models, which is a necessity in a field where waste is at a high risk.

On a weekly basis, the company has to send out purchases from over 50 farms and distributors around the world, while following every step of the shipping process in real time, in order for them to quickly determine the costs of the goods and fix a fair sale price for circulating products.

Neova has also developed a computerized function that automatically adjusts the cost of each item related to your purchases, taking into account the exchange rate, transportation costs (terminals & transfer) and custom fees, allowing you to adjust freely your selling prices. Now, the company can operate with a margin of error of less than 2%.

The integration process has also led to significant logistic gains regarding the contents of each flower box, the, its arrival date, identifies substitutions that have been made, and to locates the origin of the product. It also facilitates the verification process and the reception of the mechandise. Additionally, each adjustment of these parameters is indicated by color code which makes it easier identify the status of all of the purchases.

Based on an intuitive purchase interface developed by Neova, « Fleuriweb » customer orders are automatically generated and reserved in the Neovation system and a confirmation email is instantly sent to the purchaser. Simultaneously, your business’ inventory is automatically updated after each transaction.

Conclusion

Fleurigros had some organizational difficulties and it was partly due to the perishable aspect of their products, the various countries of origin and their incapability to fully monitor the importation process of their purchases and sales in real time.

They also had problems with storing historical data disabling any representative statistical models.

Neova has succeeded in developing strategic partnerships with freight logistics and has integrated electronic communication of purchase documents and labeling functions with the farms current information system.

Now each farm is able to label its boxes with a unique bar code, enabling every logistic partner to identify the contents of each box. The reception of stock is simply executed by scanning the bar code on the box.

Since traceability of stocks in real-time is an essential element of their field of activity, Neovation has a purchasing module which communicates with all systems used in any farms. This compatibility has led to an automatic management of inventory and an efficient monitoring of products. Also, the software adjusts fair selling prices, taking into account various costs.
